So I’ve narrowed it down to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Uh, that’s pretty much it. Right now I’m kind of leaning towards the CTX700 since it more or less combines some of the features of the other two bikes and thanks to the Honda Dream Garage sales event prices are crazy-low on even new bikes. However, the one dealership in the area that has them might not accept the bike we want to trade in (a Victory Vision) leaving us with a Victory/Yamaha-only dealer. In which case I’m leaning towards the FZ-07. I’d like to know if any Opponauts have any experience with either bike, but I’m hoping to take them on a test ride when we’re ready to trade. I’d also like opinion on the Kawasaki Vulcan 600S even though when I got an opportunity to test ride one !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

And if you want me to get a Yamaha XSR900 instead, I’m all ears. Just keep in mind I’m looking for an upright riding style and a budget of around $8000.

Those are 3 very different bikes. Personally, I would always choose the FZ-07 out of those three. If you bumped your budget to $8500 you could get a Ducati Scrambler.

Honda NC700X be good too.

What do you want from a bike? The Bolt, CTX700 and FZ-07 are pretty different bikes.

I would go with the FZ, personally, but instead of buying a new FZ-07, I’d spend about the same and buy a lightly used FJ-09.

But out of the three, the FZ fits my riding style best. I have heard a lot of good things about the Bolt, but I can’t really stand the cruiser riding position for more than 45 minutes or so.

If you’re taller than 5'2" the Bolt is out.

I just picked up a used FZ-06 a few months ago. I have to say, I really like it. I now understand what people are complaining about with low end torque, it really does fall on it’s face a little bit off the line, but it can scream once you get it past 5000ish RPMs. I have found it to be fairly comfortable, but my intention is to install some renthal dirt bike bars to get the seating position even more upright which I think will make it perfect. As I ride, I do have to shift a lot, and the clutch is abrupt and tough to pull. I plan on going aftermarket to fix that as well. The handling of the bike is GREAT! It feels so stable and turns in easily, remaining stable through the turn, even two up with my girlfriend wiggling all around. I added the givi rack and top case which gives it a bunch of storage so it’s great for beach trips and my intention is to try out some minimalist motorcycle camping. My bike is over ten years old and was owned by an idiot who barely took care of it. It still runs very well with no problems or leaks. Starts right up, runs, idles, and drives great.

That being said, I am a big Honda fan and have had great luck with their bikes, though never experienced the CTX-700. I am a cheap used bike buyer so I tend to get whatever someone is selling when they’re leaving town rather than getting to pick exactly what I want, heh. 8K will get you a hell of a bike on the used market btw. My six year old Honda CBR 1000RR was immaculate with tasteful mods (rear sets, exhaust) for 6k (HALF OFF!)

Good luck with your search!

Around here that ctx70o is cheap! I saw them in a local dealer for $5k (2015 model) and they had 8 of them.

I sat on it and the pegs were fairly forward for my taste. You may want to look at the nc700x. It’s roughly the same price and it’s the same engine.

not the CTX. i rode one. its pretty lifeless. crap brakes, mediocre power. turned in almost on a dime, it must be said. but low cornering clearance meant that the tuirn in was basicly your entirly turn.

not a good bike IMO. will be reliable though.
